Hi, I stuck, I have been trying to figure out which one is the "Rare" RDV for the 1965 business strike of Washington Quarter clad, not the SMS strike. I read in some places that the RDV-004 is the rare one, however, I found that other places indicate that is the RDV-003 is the rare RDV. It should be as simple as examining/comparing them but it do not have any good quality Business strikes, my collection only has SMS, big mistake. I will appreciate any information. Thanks!
I've found that there are no really rare RDV for the 1965 business strike quarter. RDV-004 and 005 are common, and RDV-003 is rather uncommon but there are enough floating around out there that you will be able to find one in circulation if you look at enough quarters.
RDV-003 is the same reverse used on the 64-d type C quarter. If you are looking for an UNC RDV-003 you may be able to find one, due to the fact that the 003 hub being the first used, maybe more were saved.
Thank you very much!! This is exactly the information I was looking for, it was driving crazy. I was doing my research based on the fact that the RDV-004 was the rare one and that the RDV-003 was the common one. It just did not make sense why I had over a hundred RDV-004 and no RDV-003, that was way too much good luck for me to have, hahahah!! "RDV-004 and 005 are common, and the RDV-003 is rather uncommon." Again, thank you very much.
From what I have seen, There are no rare RDV's for the 66, RDV-003 had been reported for the 67, but I have not seen one. For 67 the common ones are 004, and 005, with 006 being very hard to find. It is the hub with the master die doubling and the serif on the top of the N in Unum.
Just a quick update, no luck on finding a 1965 or a 1967 RDV-003 business strikes in the quarters I have. I'll keep looking on ebay.
