    Hello,

This is my first post here, but my father-in-law asked if I could find out what this coin is. All I know is he found in Bermuda about 40 years ago.

Thank you and please let me know this post is inappropriate or in the wrong forum.

1753 Mexico Real. Though I'm not sure if it's a 1/2, 2, or whatever. What size is it?

It's thin and a little smaller than a dime I'd say although it's not in front of me anymore.

    I think it'd be a 1/2 Reale then.
*Disclaimer* I'm not super knowledgeable about these coins.

I think you have a picayune coin.

I concur on furry frogs finding. Obverse is up side down in the image. Turn it 180 and you can see what would be the top of the shield. Have fun everyone.

My understanding of the term picayune was that it was a common tern in Spanish and French Louisiana for the medio or half real.
