Need help with this Morgan...many errors

    This 1891 MORGAN HAS SO MANY ERRORS...NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE....ANY ADVICE? Please note the lines are not gouges, they are high relief lines, plus the Dollar word has shadow and dot below D image.jpeg

    It looks to me like those are gouges on the coin with metal pushed up on the right side of each gouge.......PMD!

    The gouges to the left and right of the eagle's head are damage.

    Pushed metal. See the right one, you can see the triangle "divot" where the metal used to be

    It was done with a hammer and a letter O punch. Google "counterstamped coin" and you'll get a feel for what they are. It was a big way for businesses to advertise in the 19th century but single letters like this are just seen as damage for the most part

    In layman's terms, it is an impression hammered into a coin after the coin was produced.
