Got these in the mail yesterday. Thought I'd show them off. As of Faustina Jr. under Antoninus Pius. As of Lucilla. Alexandrian tet of Salonina.
I suspect those are much better looking coins. Frank's photos are always harsh. Try to rephotograph them yourself and see if you can do better. All three look good but I like the Salonina in particular. Her legends are not always that clear. Mine is 9 years earlier and very different in style. I'd say all three were good buys for someone interested in the empresses. I bid on 24 coins in this sale winning 5 (about average for me). I alway wonder who buys all those coins. I hope you will be very happy with the three. Just to show opinion variations, opposite of Bing, I would say the Lucilla was the best by conventional tastes. I just have a fondness for Alexandrians so the Salonina stood out.
Well done! Agreed. I am a sucker for the Eagles... My Marsic Denarius from the Roman Social War was from that same auction.
Awesome, Roman Collector => congrats on scoring three sweet lookin' ladies!! I like all of them ... especially the cool Eagle Tet (very nice) Ummm, can I toss-in my humble examples of these gals? Faustina-II (An AE Sestertius and an AR Denarius) Lucilla (AE Sestertius) Salonina (AR Denarius)
