This came in the mail today. Bought an old mint set and brown box Ike together. The Franklin has a little toning on the obverse due to a very small tear in the packaging. Besides the toning (which is not all that bad) the coin has a very nice mirror finish, a little frosting on the devices and just an overall great eye appeal. I don't mind opening the mint set as I think the packaging is doing more damage than good at this point. Will put the rest into airtites as soon as I can get them. Enjoy and tell me what you think Darryl
Nice Franklin! Tough to tell from the pics, but does it have a shot at CAM? (The reverse pic is the toughest to tell).
Nice Franklin Darryl. I've been collecting these myself, generally buying all of them that I can, kind of like the Hunt brothers but on a smaller scale.
Thanks guys, After receiving this one, it makes me think I should go out and buy more old mint sets... I was really surprised by the finish when I received it. Plastic wrap had yellowed from age so the coin did not look this good in the eBay pictures. I'll post pictures of the nickel from the set in another thread later. For some reason the reverse has some light blue (almost aqua-blue) on it. I need to get a proper coin holder for it first before I open the plastic wrap. Best Regards, Darryl
Thank You ND86 :smile It is a nice looking coin all the way around! Love it in proof condition, and the silver has such a nice weight to it. Have a 63 set on the way, hope I get a lucky with condition... Best Regards, Darryl
I bet all of you not know that USSR once printed postage stamp with Ben Franklin in great persons of world history series during 1950ths. It was brown stamp with value of I think 3 Kopeki.
Very Interesting trivia, Thanks... Wonder if it looks similar to the coin image? I will have to see if there are any out on eBay.
