Price is $49.50. It's being offered on Ebay from a seller with 100% positive feedback out of 1441. Spring for it or leave it alone?
I saw that, too, but I don't think a couple of very light marks that happen to form an X on a well-circulated coin are a problem.
Pretty nice for having turned over its odometer a few times. If it suits your fancy and budget, go for it.
Real as can be and nice original skin. I don't see it as a losing proposition pcgs coinfacts has it at $80. But I don't think you'll get rich either. Kind of coin you can make $10-15 on easy
Flipping coins you buy at retail is a losing proposition . Most people that flip coins have built a rapport with other dealers and buy at wholesale . But that takes years of networking and getting to know the right people .
If you were thinking about flipping it on eBay, you may want to reconsider. It's a definite possibility that you could buy it for $50 and resell it for $60, but after the eBay fees, shipping, etc. your profit margin would end up being very small or negative. Reselling somewhere other than eBay could avoid those fees, but then it may be harder to find a buyer, or be a major hassle, etc. That said, I like the coin and it's the type of coin I'd be proud to own. While some of its peers were sitting in treasury vaults it was out seeing the world!
I wouldn't spend money on a heavily worn coin like this one. You were born in 2003, right? I see why you care about the date. But wait some time until you can afford a VF coin...
Circulated Morgans have charm. Still this one is missing the outside corner of Liberty's eye, lots of flatness on the central devices. I used to buy better date dollars like this when I found them, where I am at today I would pass. I think the seller's price is very fair, but question if you could flip for much profit. For what it's worth the 03S I posted in the 20th century game thread looks a lot better than my lousy scan, grades close to VF with a couple of small rim nicks, I won it on ebay in 2012 for $66.
As a reference, here is 1903-S Morgan that I purchased at a coin show in 2010 for $60. I'm thinking that it grades about EF-40.
Sorry, this Morgan was cleaned to death and wouldn't grade, even when submitted to a basement slabber... btw are you an IEEE member?
