Has anyone ever heard of GEC, and if so, what are your thoughts, opinions or experience with them. Thinking about buying a coin that is graded by them. Thanks

Did you see there web site. Basically they state they do not use the same grading as others - I think they make it up. Stay away from them.

Thanks!! Once I saw the abundance of coins he had "graded" by the same "company" red flags started going up. Oh, and in his auction he states that "this coin trends $100 + in this condition....." well actually it is more like 20-50$ from what I saw. He must have made up his own price guide too.

It doesn't matter what grade they gave it, bid on the coin, not the holder.

My mother always taught me not to say anything about someone unless I could say something nice.

I don't always follow that advice, but in this instance [IMG].

I agree with you 100% . Me being somewhat new to the collecting world would want the peace of mind knowing the graded coin I am bidding on has an accurate grade. I have no clue how tell if a coin is given a over graded status. unless it's really obvious.

Definitely stay away from this outfit. It is another self slabber that uses "different standards" but somehow maintains the Sheldon Scale numbers.

"We do not subscribed to any form or standard in coin grading; our grades are designed by us and are not to be confused to mean the same as any other grading company."

    Nice system of grading.

I have seen that GEC popping up. I pondered long and hard about getting one of the dollars. After a long thought out 2 seconds I decided to pass.

One of the more amusing sites I've seen in a while. Heck, the home page is nothing but disclaimers! BIG RED FLAGS FLYING!

Then I checked out other auctions. Wow, it's amazing how many MS67 Morgan and Peace dollars are popping up these days.

Finally, the 1896 Morgan. What detail, what luster what a circulated and cleaned piece of garbage!

Just my opinion of course. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

With the threat of censorship hanging over me. I will write .. if that coin is bought for 78 bucks, I am putting the loose change in my pocket on E-bay. Hope that wasnt too political.

The funny thing is that I have sold plenty of "loose change" on ebay.
