Hungarian 20 Kreuzer, 1765

    Here is what the MailMan brought today. A 1765 Hungarian 20 Kreuzer, who knows this coin could have been in a card game at Dracula's Castle... ;)

    Just want to thank Bart for information he posted earlier when I mentioned pruchasing it to begin with:

    Not to nitpick, but Transylvania was in Romania, not Hungary. :D

    Nice coin, you can see that it was very well struck before being well circulated. :thumb:

    This is weird. My father was the the only remaining namesake for his family and so ended up with a lot of the family "things". I have subsequently inherited them. One of the items is a coin that family lore says my great-great grandfather wore around his neck when coming to America from Germany in the 1850's. There is absolutely no evidence to back this up. According to my research, it is an Austrian 20 kreuger, 1848A coin and it does fit the time frame. Oh well, it puts a little story behind the coin!!!
