Hi I posted a few days ago about a coin I found. One person got back to me and said they thought it was French Commemoratve Coin. I really need some more info if anyone has any ideas. Ive tried to upload a picture but havent managed to do it successfully yet. Any advice or comments gratefully received. Thankyou.
Ive had this item for a while now, I found it in my garden. Im not sure if it is a medal or coin. It is 11/2 inches in diameter and approx 5ml thick and quite heavy. It does have a little hook on the top (as though it was threaded on a ribbon) and it has a round studded outline and then a risen inner circl with a sideways picture of Napoleon on and NAPOLEON written on one side of his picture and BONAPARTE on the other side of his picture. On the reverse is a studded outline again and then a picture of the eiffel tower and some other buildings and 'PARIS' in big letters at the bottom.
I know ive already asked I put in the post I asked and one person got back to me just wondered if anyone else had anymore info. Because ive looked everywhere and cant find one the same.
My friend, without a clear picture there is no possible way to give you any more information. Even with a picture, the only possible additional information you could get would be the identity of the medal's issuer, and that would only be if someone seeing your picture recognized it. The only research possibility that comes to mind is one you might want to try, but it is very unlikely that any other member would be willing to invest the necessary time. Go to Google, and do image searches separately on the words "Napolean", "Bonaparte", "French Medal", "Paris", "Eiffel Tower" and any other descriptive words you can think of. Look at each of the thousands of images those searches will call up, and see if you are lucky enough that someone has already posted a picture of your medal somewhere in cyberspace! Good luck!
