Hey everyone, sorry that I havent classified this coin very much but im trying to determine its condition, and if possible how much its worth. Its definitely silver though, and looks like its in pretty good shape exept for a dent on the edge. Thanks for a reply.
Looks like the grade is a possible Good-4 .... Although the reverse looks pretty messed up, maybe some old time cleaning goin on...This really isn't the series I collect, so it's probably best to wait on another to get online to check it out... My guess on how much it is worth would be about 120 - 150 maybe....
Pennycase, Yes, the coin I see has very bold rims, solid partial motto, substantial feather detail. I suspect ANACS would wear grade it above VG-8. But it does havea few ticks. mcrc
I could argue, but, I wont. at least 8 rim nicks total 3+ scratches, possible graffiti, is all i'm going to say. Typically speaking, I've got higher grading standards than ANACS, so maybe i'm just beating up on the coin
I actually agree with you both on this one. The coin certainly has VG details. The reverse rim bumps and scrathes will certainly kill the grade. I would settle on VG-6.
I see this coin as a G6. Without the reverse, I could see it as a VG8. I don't believe that the strike on the reverse of these coins was very sharp, which may account for some of the uneven wear. I have looked at others of this date and they all seem to have this similar wear pattern. I would comfortably call it G6 but ANACS may grade it higher.
Thanks everyone, I'll keep on looking at what others have said, I really appreciate how quickly I got a response. I looked around at some other similar coins and I was suprised how nice this one looked, some of the websites I looked at that gave some general ranges on how much the coin would be worth and they gave some generous prices. I assume that it will be valued more as the years progress. Haha, thats my E-Mail, and I dont even know why its there, I do some graphic work and for some reason at the time I thought it was something to put on there. Thanks Charlie
I should probably have clarified that I make a big distinction between wear grade and net grade. This is because I sort of specialize in "problem coins"--those with nicks, ticks, and worse. I think we are all pretty much in agreement here. The coin is something like VG Detail, Net G-6. Mark C.
Well, Charlie, it's not a good idea to put your e-mail address on pictures of coins that you post on internet coin forums. For one thing, it will get you added to a whole lot of spam lists. It also appears that you are trying to market that coin here.
