If the airtite is too tight I use a pointed metal fingernail file. Most times I use my fingernail because that is always available just habit now. Anyway a exacto blade can slip causing a nasty cut. Thanks though
Eye strain while roll searching cents for varieties, broken finger nail from opening airtites, and some minor distress when I get outbid.
I can see that happening, but I go very slowly doing it. with practice you will get the hang of it. I use the bottom of the blade not the pointed end.
This one didn't happen to me (obviously), but I think a prominent numismatist back in the 1800's managed to accidentally drink the potassium cyanide solution he was cleaning his coins with. Very bad luck indeed, and definitely not a mistake you make twice. Also a good reason not to clean coins...it could kill you!
Last year I had my coin binder where I keep my lists sitting on the floor in the living room, tripped over it and stubbed my toe against the metal ring. Oh that hurt!
I've read that in a book once. He had a cup of ginger ale and a cup of potassium cyanide. These were both the same color. When the numismatist went to drink the ginger ale, guess what happened. Just guess.
