Since I started this thread Im gonna Hijack it to another coin-

Does this really look like a "DROPPED LETTER " error

It seems to have all the correct diagnostics but Id like some other opinions-

IT LOOKS TO ME TO HAVE A DIFFERENT SIZE & SHAPE THAN THE D IN "GOD" sorry caps-

IS THIS ONE A SCAM TOO - WHAT DO YOU THINK ?

She replied quick. She said: "no professional tonner would ever use an oven" lol. I just emailed her back and asked what she used.

Its scary just how many ways a coin can be toned, off the top of my head I know at least a dozen tactics. I'm planning on doing a "What to Watch For" thread before too long to photograph the effects of some different methods of toning as well as some common fraud tactics... It should be a fun experiment and hopefully it will teach some folks what to watch out for.

I made some identical GW coins to spend just for fun. They looked great. 400 degrees for an hour or so. Some turned a dark copper, and some went pink & purple.

At least she admitted they are artificially toned, although it should not take much thought to figure out that a month old coin could not possibly tone that fast naturally.
I'm also sure some people buy before they think.

Looking at the feedback for the seller, I saw a repeat buyer, and looking at his feedback, noticed he bought hundreds of coins a month, mostly 'monster toned' or 'neon toned', and a lot of proof coins, mostly buy-it-nows and a few of them he was paying 10 times over red book value. I can't figure out why? Obviously not an investment, I'd guess, and if its just for the novelty of having an artificially toned coin, why not learn to do it yourself instead of spending THOUSANDS of dollars a MONTH on ebay?
And look at that sellers feedback, theyre sometimes making $100/day selling these things, and the feedback is 100% positive. I just don't understand some people....
