What is your rarest Canadian Dominion issue coin?

Only if I can locate it Aidan. I doubt I tossed it in my Whitman which means it's in a 2x2. Lord only knows where it might be.
Can I ask why you want pics to bad?

Far 6

Ok Aidan and all of you Canadian buffs.
I believe this is a 1926 Far 6 Nickel - correct me if I'm wrong that means I need to find it.
The way I see it on a far 6 the tail is higher up in relation to the leaves. These pics should help.

 

Dan,that coin is actually a Near 6 type,but it is still a pretty scarce coin though.

The Near/Far 6 in in relation to the leaf, not to the rest of the date, hopefully you didn't pay $50 for it, or if you did, double-check your 'Near 6' and hopefully it's really a 'Far 6'.

 

A 1917 half dollar of which I can't seem to find a picture of.

I have got the 1908 & 1929 50c. coins.I did have a 1911 'Godless' 50c. coin that had mount marks from being in a brooch,but I lost that when my flat was broken into back in 2002,unfortunately.As I recall,I paid NZ$8 for it from a late friend of mine,who was the King of British Commonwealth numismatics in New Zealand,Bill Lampard,F.R.N.S.N.Z. himself.

I was wondering myself when I put up the pics but I KNOW I do have a legit Far 6. I have no clue as to where it's buried though and am not looking for it. It will pop up someday (this is how I work).

 

recently sold a 1948 dollar. part of the deal was taking the lesser grade 1948 of the buyer. the lesser grade 1948 was sold 2 hours later.

rare dates are fun to flip

My favorite Canadian coin is my 1935 George V silver jubilee Dollar in EF-AU. It's not the rarest Canadian coin I have, but it's definitely the one most dear to me.
The only pictures I have are some quick ones I took of it while it was still in a flip, so they're slightly fuzzy.

 

Rexesq,that's a very nice Silver Jubilee Voyageur you've got there.Canada was the only country apart from Great Britain to issue a coin to commemorate King George V's Silver Jubilee.The Silver Jubilee Voyageur is the only Canadian coin that depicts Percy Metcalfe's crowned portrait of King George V,which appears on the first coins of Southern Rhodesia,New Zealand,Fiji,& the 1934-35 Melbourne & Victoria Centenary Florin from Australia.

I haven't got any Voyageurs issued between 1935 & 1949 yet.

I noticed that it was the same portrait as on my New Zealand and Fijian coins. I like it, I think it's quite an interesting coin. I still have yet to aquire the George V silver jubilee crown from Great Britain, but I'm keeping my eyes open for a nice one. I also very much like the design of the 1949 Canada dollar, but have yet to purchase one. Yep, Canada certainly does have some beautiful coins.

 

Rexesq,If you have got any early Southern Rhodesian coins,you will notice that the 1935 Voyageur has the same portrait as those.

I actually have none from Southern Rhodesia, however, I have looked at the pictures of them. They have great designs, I especially like the bird sculpture on the shilling, and the antelope on the florin.

 

Surely someone must have found a scarce Canadian coin in their change recently.If that's the case,please let us know,& post photos.

The most interesting Canadian coin I've found in my change was one of the 1867-1967 silver quarters, with the lynx on the reverse. This was a year or two ago. I'm really surprised that no one who had it before me saved it, since it looks so radically different than any US quarters. We don't get too many Canadian coins here in Arizona. The occasional nickel or penny, but thats about it. I was overjoyed to find the 1867-1967 quarter, it's still only the 5th silver coin I have ever found in circulation.
I'll bet some of the Canadian residents who post here have found some interesting stuff throughout their lives...

 

Rexesq,is it a lynx on the reverse of that Canadian commemorative 25c. coin? I had been told once that it was a bobcat (no,not the one that you can drive!).

By the way,it's a common coin,not a scarce one at all.

Yeah, indeed it is a very common coin, it's just a scarce coin to find in southern Arizona. Especially these days, considering how rare it is to find a silver coin in circulation in the states. I have several of all of the 1867-1967 coins, I especially like the goose on the dollar, and the wolf on the half-dollar, fantastic designs. And yes, it is a lynx, according to my 20th century krause book. I don't know if they have bobcats in Canada...

 

Rexesq,when you are buying the 1967 silver $1,always check them for the 'Diving Goose' variety,as they are rare.
