    please don't

as stated the Carson City mint did not exist at that time.

If that one is fake, then it is likely the other is also fake

The bust dollar is a copy of the BB51, off center bust. This is one of the most common Chinese forgeries. The morphology of the numbers and spacing of the date is wrong, and on the reverse the high sharp rim is wrong. I think this was struck in a collar. I'm sure that more magnified images would show up a lot of other problems but looking at this casually someone could be fooled. The overall details are halfway decent. As to the seated dollar, If all you saw was the obverse you would immediately know it was fake by the gash in the shield, one of the most widely used dies by the counterfeiters.

Total fakes both. Bust dollar has the classic mushy details and poorly formed rims of typical fakes. The seated dollar wouldn't fool Stevie Wonder

Yes, the pictures don't enlarge well and it looks like they tried to weaken some of the diagnostics but it is a "vampire hub" fake.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

This is not even remotely close to true. Educate yourself about genuine coins, and you'll be able to spot the fakes for yourself. There are plenty of old, high grade, genuine coins which are also raw.

In the case of the OP's coins - they are clearly fake. There are a number of indicators. Compare to a genuine coin, and it should be immediately obvious.

    Ok. Point taken.

I still think that any coin that old and that nice that is not slabbed is worthy of an extra-close examination.
