I have read or heard that the Statehood Quarter program will continue past its original end date to include DC, Puerto Rico and the other three protectorates. Does anyone have any real facts on this?
As in the previous four times it has been proposed, it passed the House nad is currently being sat upon in committee in the Senate from which, like it's previous attempts, it will hopefully never emerge.
I've read this tidbit on another blog: A bill is pending in Congress for quarters to honor DC, Puerto Rico etc. If it gets passed it will probably be in the final days of Congress for this year in one of those "housekeeping" sessions where they clear out the misc. less important pieces of legislation from the pipeline. The dems will push this through, I can feel it.
It's six coins I do beleive it is DC Puerto Rico Guam the northern marianas islands the us virgin islands and American Samoa
Why all the DC hating? it's not just some terrible, mythical land where politicians go to waste your money -- actual hard-working americans live here, too. why shouldn't we have a quarter? hell, if north dakota gets a quarter, i don't see why we shouldn't. lots more to see and do here in DC than in bismarck. no offense to the dakotas in particular, i suppose, but you catch my drift. V.
I don't think it has anything to do with hating anything. I think most people are just plain tired of the whole idea and want it to end.
Yours truly for one is looking forward to it * * * (triple Asterix). It may just be that these coins in an obelix way will be rare in their unpopularity. Anyone read the story on Native American themes for the revese of the Sacagawea Dollars?
I'm not 100% sure, but maybe, just maybe, could it be due to the fact that D.C. isn't a STATE? After all it is the STATE quarters program.
Passed the house (again) but no one in the Senate has any interest in sponcering a companion bill. If it does go thru it will be as an add-on to some other bill.
Well since the Senate is all tied up in opinion polls concerning the illegal amnesty bill and creating the 51st State of Mexifornia, they hopefully will omit this piece of legislation
