As for buying either a 1937-D 3-legged Buffalo nickel or a 1955 doubled die cent, the nickel is actually fairly common and not really worth its price according to such experts as David Bowers. The 55 doubled die, on the other hand, is genuinely scarce and probably worth the money. Slabbed is the way to go, either PCGS or NGC only.

Yes exactly the 55 DDO is out of my range, I decided to go with the Carson City Morgans that I could afford slabed

James, there is no comparison here...one is a collector coin and one is a die error coin. IMHO

One has to watch even when buying slabbed coins since China is making many fake slabs. Buy from a dealer whom you trust.

    AWORDCREATED Hardly Noticeable

Or at least one who is solvent enough to cover the collection/legal fees :D

  7. I was always curious.....

Between NGC, PCGS, ICG, ANACS, who is better and what supporting facts are there? I feel people and business follow NGC because I said so logic.

Based on my experiences with NGC, ICG, ANACS; ICG has show much more then the other two. PCGS.... well I haven't the money nor the coin to submit to them yet...

    should I do another thread?

PCGS and NGC prices are very close. Regular service for PCGS is the equivalent to NGC's Early Bird Service. Both are for coins with values up to $3000.

PCGS charges $32, NGC charges $30. PCGS is also $2 more with their Service charge, $10 vs. $8 per submission. Return Shipping 1-4 coins with PCGS is $21.95. Return Shipping 1-3 with NGC is $21. If you have 4 coins with NGC return shipping is $24.

  9. I asked about proof that services and why they are better. I can just go to the websites to find their rates....... there was nothing about cost in my question, thank you very much.

Sorry, I hope you get it figured out.

  11. still looking for a Coin dealer that accepts submissions to PCGS. I went to their website and most of the stores do not respond. I can't believe it's this hard to do without joining....
