My latest Constans is a Phoenix on mound of stones type from Lugdunum. A scarcer type for Lugdunum. Constans - AE3 Obv:- D N CONSTA-NS P F AVG, Rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right Rev:- FEL . TEMP . REPARATIO, Radiate Phoenix standing right on mound of stones. Minted in Lugdunum; (/PLG), A.D. 348-350 Reference:– RIC VIII Lyons 90 (R)
I'll update Mikey's post of the Constantine II with the Constans from that series. In this case, at this mint, Constans is left facing. Any two standard Constans will have a young portrait (he was about ten at that time).
I have a later one standard version still with a young portrait. Constans - AE3/4 Obv:- FL CONSTANS NOB CAES, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left. Rev:- GLORIA EXERCITVS, Two helmeted soldiers standing with spears & shields, facing a standard between them Minted in Constantinople; (//CONSIA) Reference:– RIC VII Constantinople 140 (R2)
