    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

nice details on that one. seems like many of the halves i've seen lately are in pretty good shape and go for much less than half of a whole coin of similar quality.

One of the nicest croc half coins I've seen. Great detail. Just look at those teeth. And the collar and chain are so well detailed, there can be no questions as to what they are.

Now you have a croc head. They struck those with various die axes so you can get halves with either man and either end of the croc. You can get a full length croc on a half or a coin with the top half of the reverse and hardly any croc (but why would you want to???). What I have not seen is a coin halved across the portraits so you get the full legend top or bottom. There are a few broken very unevenly with some of each portrait but most cutters made an effort to go between the heads.

What is a half worth? They go for a lot less than half the price of a whole of equal grade. Many people see a defective item but these were halved for spending so they are legitimate asses IMHO. Still, I have never paid a quarter of a whole price.

A timely post. I have my eye on one of these on a current auction. With a little luck and the right bid I just might have one of these soon.

Great new croc coin, Martin .... yah, again you're posting examples that I don't have!! (another wish-list coin)

apparently this is your 3rd 1/2-croc example? => oh, and Mentor also has a whole bunch of these sweet 1/2-croc examples (maybe one day I'll find one that speaks to me)

Martin => congrats on adding several cool new additions to your already awesome hoard

I've shown it previously on other threads, but as this one pops up, it would be appropriate to post again my half dupondius here
