Ok, I got another near monster 1963 D Franklin MS 64 PCGS. It is more red than the other one, but has really intense rainbow toning like the other one I posted. Not FBL, once again, but with this toning, who cares?

Another stunner. Nice grab! What are the lines through the date and behind Ben’s head? Kind of look like fingerprints but the more I look at them the less I think that’s what they are.

It looks like the texture of the toning. The close-up photos kind of make it look fingerprinted, but it is more like texture levels.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

This is my own personal opinion, and others will disagree, but I absolutely despise fingerprints and palmprints on my coins (especially "UNC" coins). While the reverse toning is nice for a 63D, I absolutely cannot stand the obverse.

Again, that it is my own personal opinion. What is important is that you like the coin.

These might not be "fingerprints" per se... they are probably "palm prints." The palms of your hands have the same texture as your fingertips, and if you hold a coin in the palm of your hand it will do the same thing.

I have a full set of MS Franklins, and all of the proofs. I am now grabbing nice toned Frankies.

How long have you been working on your Franklin Halfs? I'm working on the Walking Liberty Half Dollars.

I completed my full MS Set in 2015. I completed the proofs a year later. Now, I am doing particularly attractive individual dates. So, in total, about 9 years.

Missing a 72s to complete mine in MS condition, 62 would work

I need 6 of them in MS-64 graded by PCGS with FBL on the label to have them all in MS. I have 3 other lower grade sets. I prefer the blue labels do they will all match. Lol

My set has PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and 1 ICG slabs. The grade range is 64 to 67, with about 80% FBL. I went for eye appeal, not necessarily trying to match. Same with the proof coins— they range from 65 to 68, and cover the range of companies.

Definitely human prints, not just toning textures, and it kills the appeal for me. Too bad.

Collecting a set of graded coins is more difficult and more expensive. I congratulate you. I do try to get nice coins, but if I find a coin in bad condition, I'll plug the hole until I get a better one. I applaud those of you that collect graded coins. The cost and amount of time and effort put into such a collection must be very time consuming. Now that I'm a grandfather and my children and grandchildren are all over the States, I have more time to dedicate to my collection.. or at least thought I would have more time. My wife has a book she keeps of things she wants me to do.
