Here's a good one I found on Ovestock: http://auctions.overstock.com/item/38896918 No, I'm not bidding but have asked the seller why he would sell such a coin for under $4000. Wonder if I get a reply? Comments anyone?
HAHA! You wanna know what's funny? Go here: http://www.americagradingservice.com/ They stole the crappy pictures directly from AGS's website! And the other Peace Dollar photo on their looks like someone cleaned it with an electric drill and some brillo!
http://www.americagradingservice.com/services Look at the bagas and bags and bags of coins "yet to be graded" lol If that is how they will store coins I send in to be graded, I am running away kicking screaming and cussing.
Lol...Look at the bottom of the pages on their site... Copyright 1978 America Grading Service, Inc. All rights reserved. Last time I checked, there was no internet, or personal home computers for that matter, in 1978...lol what a load of crap.
Thought a few of you might get a kick out of that. The stacked bags of coins is PRICELESS! Wonder if those are all MS67 coins in there? May be the onion fumes as I see they're in Vidalia. WELCOME TO VIDALIA! GREAT ONIONS BUT LOUSY COIN GRADING! Will have to send that to their chamber of commerce. Maybe they can make a sign.
This is the funniest thread I've seen in a while ! Yes, ya gotta check out those big bags of coins "yet 2 B graded". What a scream !
Last I checked copyrights existed before the Internet and even before personal computers. I thought I had an old reference to an AGS from Georgia but it turns out it was IGA
Why? Possibly they copyrighted the name back in 1978. (and maybe had a certificate I haven't seen yet.) A copyright is good till 70 years after the death of the original copyright holder so there is no need to have a more uptodate one unless they make changes and wish to protect those changes as well.
You can't copyright a name of a company; you can only trademark it. Perhaps the webpage contains text that they copyrighted in 1978. They wouldn't have to renew the copyright just because they posted existing text onto their webpage.
I do think that I did reply to you. If I am not mistaken I did reply to you in a email. I have nothing to hide and if any of you have any questions please feel free to ask me before jumping the gun on what you may think. I would be happy to fill in the blanks for you. I am not here to start trouble but to be a friend and to clear up anything that may be of question to you as to my coin grading service. I look forward to getting to know you all. Hope you all are having a good holiday and kicking back and taking it easy. Jeff
They happen to be my personal coins They happen to be my personal collection of coins that I have not had the chance to grade for myself. Some how I fail to see the humor in your post. Thanks Jeff AGS
Internet in the 70's Answer Not sure if you are aware of this or not but one can have a business and not have it on the internet they do have buildings that can be bought and used for a business not all stores are just internet. No where did I imply or say that my business has been on line for 29 years did I? Nope I did not. But I have been in the coin industry and the coin business since 1978 and my business is incorporated and registered. So know the facts please before jumping the gun. Thanks Jeff AGS
Have you ever sent any of your coins off to PCGS or NGC to find out how accurate your grading is? I'm not trying to be offensive. I'm just trying to find out if that Peace Dollar would really crossover as an MS67?
I would be interested in answers to a few questions----glad you could find the time to join us. What Grading Standers do you go by? Have you had many people send you coins to grade? The other guy asked...have you ever crossed over any of your coins to PCGS or NGC at the SAME grade? You site doesn't have your prices....and it doesn't show photos of your slabs? How are your slabs sealed? That is just starters....I have some more but will wait for awhile. Speedy
The humor I saw was the bags and bags of coins shown in the pictures on your website. There are several hundred of my personal coins that I have not attributed grades to yet. However I do not keep them in bags. At a MINIMUM theey are in 2X2 just to prevent any new bag marks, wear and any other damage seen with less than optimal storage. If you feel slighted, perhaps you should see how your business is represented to outsiders who have dealt with corrupt dealers in the past and what impression your photographs leave behind.
Coin grading is an opinion only and to be honest with you it did sell and did grade as a MS-66 by NGS or so the buyer told me after he bought the coin.
