A few years ago I purchased these supposedly ancient coins in Lebanon to get my son interested in coins. Can anyone shed further light on what they might be???

    Are they just modern fakes???

I think the top three are copies but the bottom two are real.

I bet the Ancients forum will be better at figuring this out.

Maybe a mod will move it there.

Top 3 are fakes and the bottom 3 are ok but too low grade to be worth anything.

    Hi, 1934 Wreath Crown ...

Unfortunately for the OP-coins, I'm pretty sure that Mat is correct ... too bad though, because they're such sweet coins, eh? (especially the first coin => man, it's such a great coin-type)

Ummm, I have a smaller, yet authentic version ... it's not quite as nice as your probable fake, but it's still pretty cool (wanna see it?)

Phoenicia, Byblos King Uzzibaal AR 1/16 Shekel
    Date: 365-350 BC
    Size: 11.03 mm
    Weight: 0.76 grams
Obverse: two hoplites with shields in war galley sailing left (roaring lion’s head on prow), hippocamp swimming left below (N O in field)
Reverse: Phoenician inscription; Lion attacking bull, left
    Reference: BMC 6

=> oh hey, I hope that Mat and I are incorrect and your coins end-up being authentic ... but they just seem a bit too good to be true, plus the ol' coin-fabric just seems a bit off, know what I mean?

Although not an expert many years ago I also bought similar coins in 1973, unfortunately Leu put them in the forgery tray
