1999 lincoln cent is it considered an error coin

    My guess? A product of a poor die polishing.

    It looks like the die was mauled by a wire brush.

    Could that on the Reverse be result of Copper Striation?

    i don't think it is the die that caused this because the lines look to me like they must have been on the planchet before the die struck it all the lines are under the lettering and the memorial building you can see the lines between the columns . I like the way it looks and am going to hang on to it as for copper striation maybe I don't know I did find some pictures of coins with striations it shows lines but they all were on top and fairly consistent all the way across the coin. these on this coin are wide at the top and pointed at the bottom like spikes . thanks for the help to all that answered
