No, I will not be there.
Yes, I want to be among the first in the Nation to receive the Shawnee National Forest Quarter.
Did I answer your questions? :)

I once bought one of the 50-roll ballistic bags of 2004 Westward Journey nickels that were part of the release ceremony for $150. I opened 25 of the rolls and found nothing, not even a decent high-grade specimen. The remaining 25 rolls are still in their original blue & white wrapper. I have no intention of opening the rest of the rolls.

With that being said, what do you plan to do with your Shawnee quarters?

My kids and I plan on attending this event on Thursday. Will be the first US Mint sponsored event we've been to.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW THE MINT IS DISTRIBUTING the ATB coins. i have not seen or received in change the Saratoga coin from 2015. i had to scrounge to find most of the others. it seems ridiculous that OK is not included in receiving the ATB releases.

jonny oneal, I'm not quite sure if you should be hijacking this Shawnee thread with issues of circulation. As much as I emphathize with your concerns, as I live in a tiny NC town myself, I don't necessarily agree with how you presented your view. If you would like to start a thread for how small town folk like us can quickly access new releases, that would be fantastic for numerous CT members.

With that being said, have you ever tried cycling quarters through vending machines to see whether you can find any? I did this on a vacation to a suburb outside of Miami and found three Saratoga-P quarters. I understand this may sacrifice high-quality, but at least this method can help fill in any collection holes you have at the moment.

Just ordered the P and D singles from Ebay. Can't wait to get them. I also can't wait for the program to end.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I lost interest in the mint's production of quarters after South Carolina.... the first time.

We went to this program the other day and enjoyed it. My only disappointment would have been the roll exchange. The line grew so fast and was going so slow, that it would have taken us a hour to get an exchange. Forget that! However the kids did get a quarter each from some of the presenters, so that was cool.

Even though I haven't been a quarter fan since halfway through the state quarter program, these events are great ways to get young people involved in coin collecting. A few kids I started with empty state quarter albums, have now evolved to collecting 19th and 20th century type coins. We all start somewhere. :)
