just sent this email to ANA...what do other Walker lovers, like myself, think of the idea? "I'm a small collector in Maryland and thought it would be appropriate to have some sort of special recognition of the 100th anniversary of Walkers. Any plans from the ANA? Thanks." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walking_Liberty_half_dollar
Well there is nothing like the "originals" - and if you collect Silver Eagles you are half way there! I think that's a great idea to commemorate the 100th anniversary! Just put my completed collection in a Dansco - gonna add a thread later today!
Nice Dansco I thought about doing that but couldn't bring myself to crack the ones I bought in plastic for my VF set. My set is here except the later ones I haven't got graded yet. Love walkers and always have since I was a kid. A cir set was a must. http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=119412
Yeah - that would be a tough decision!! With the $$$ it costs to encapsulate them you might as well keep them in the cases! Especially if it's the 21' series.
You could always go with a slab album, Littleton makes a nice one that has a snap closure so they also will not fall out and it is enclosed all the way around.
Isnt the mint making Mercury dimes, standing liberty quarters, and walking liberty half dollars in gold this year also?
I believe they are. The walking Liberty is my favorite coin I don't currently collect. May have to correct that shortcoming.
Yes. The Centennial gold coins: http://www.coinnews.net/2015/11/12/us-mint-announces-centennial-gold-coins-for-2016/
I have been able to put together a complete set. Very nice--lots of Fair and Almost Goods. They will be upgraded when the time is right. I would like to see the Mint issue the Mercury, Standing Liberty and Walking Liberty with the original design, but with 2016 as the date, and in the 90-10 silver. Not too many collectors can afford GOLD! Just saying...
I'm surprised that in addition to this year's gold versions of the design, there isn't some special silver eagle gimmick ... uh ... set offering in the works for while the TPGs will be offering a special label.
2016 Proof & Uncirculated American Silver Eagles will have an edge inscription. Release date? TBD. 2016 Bullion ASE's are available now (no edge inscription).
I'm referring more to some special packaging involving the 100th anniversary of the design that must be sent to the TPGs in sealed boxes in order to be eligible for some silly label.
