20160201_121427_HDR-1.jpg Why does it look like a 3rd leg on the R of LIBERTY?

Simple.. Die Chip can occur in any area of the date or lettering.. between the letters or numerals, inside each letter or numeral. It's a very small common error with no value.
In this case just imagine that R incused in the Obverse Die. It has struck blanks thousands of times until finally that spot breaks off.. then the Die Chip is created.. probably on a few hundred more Cents like the one you have.

As the others said, it is a die chip, and if you were a "less-than-honest" seller on SleazeBay, you would probably call it a "3-legged R" just to attract some bidiots.:woot::woot:

    PS. I know you're not!;)
