Simple.. Die Chip can occur in any area of the date or lettering.. between the letters or numerals, inside each letter or numeral. It's a very small common error with no value. In this case just imagine that R incused in the Obverse Die. It has struck blanks thousands of times until finally that spot breaks off.. then the Die Chip is created.. probably on a few hundred more Cents like the one you have.
