Meant to post this earlier this week but between class and work I don't have much time nowadays for posting. My birthday was on the 27th and I'd thought I'd post my sole Trajan, who succeeded to the throne on my birthday way back in 98 AD (surely some of you old timers remember that day I kid, I kid! ). (It has since been taken out of its holder but haven't taken new photos yet. This is an older acquisition.) Other things that happened on my birthday: (1606) Guy Fawkes and his conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot are put on trial and four days later are executed. (1825) Indian Territory is approved by the US Congress, to which Native Americans will later be forced to relocate to via the Trail of Tears. (1880) Thomas Edison is given the patent for the incandescent lamp. (1943) The first American bombing run over Nazi Germany occurs, against the construction yards at Wilhelmshaven. (1945) Auschwitz concentration camp is liberated by the Red Army. (1967) The Apollo 1 capsule catches fire, killing astronauts Gus Grissom, Edward White, and Robert Chaffee. (1973) Signing of the Paris Peace Accords, which ends the Vietnam War. (2011) The Yemeni Revolution begins. Feel free to post your Trajan's and/or any coins relevant to your birthday
happy bd VK! why are you posted an old coin? you have to buy yourself a new coin for your birthday...that's the rules. i got these two bargain bin coins for my last birthday..
Thanks for the birthday wishes! I did , it was the Gepid quarter siliqua from my top 10 coins thread (it was an early b-day gift to myself). I actually finished paying it off so I should have it in hand soon. And nice coins chrsmat! Yeah I know, didn't notice it until I got home after buying the coin at a coin show, but the price wasn't bad and it isn't horribly distracting so I don't consider it a bad purchase.
Actually I have been buying cheapo coins here and there recently but not specifically for my birthday. When I do share them they will have their own threads.
If I was forced to choose one emperor to specialize in, it would be Trajan. So many interesting and wonderful coins in his oeuvre. Here's a denarius you've all seen already, but this is one of my current favorites... And Arabia (no longer mine)... And one I acquired from Mat some years ago...
Happy belated birthday day, Jango!! (sweet OP-Trajan ... congrats) I still only have these three Trajans to add to your cool B-day thread ...
Happy Birthday!! I think your Trajan is terrific as is... Hey, I can't post my modest examples of Trajan after those beauties of @ro1974 Wonderful posts all!!
Happy b-day, mine was just before yours too no bd coin this year though. Sweet coin! Heres a past bd coin and a Trajan.
