No Ike is not Angry or going MAD.. Here is a nice example of a Misaligned Die Strike on a $1.00 Eisenhower that I acquired recently. Shown are both the Obverse and the Reverse.. Enjoy
I've never seen one of these slabbed. The cost of grading and error attribution really isn't worth it. However, that is a nice MAD.
True but NGC's grading fee's for Mint Error's is HALF of what PCGS Charges. HALF! As for the OP's coin, congrats! That's a nice error.
Just a note...I have seen many, many, many...you get the point..."worthless coins in slabs. I'm not referring to the OP coin. Wish it were mine. Also, bet it is worth at least $100 but what do I know. Anyone here know the price it would bring? Collectors come in all sizes and wealth. Last week I saw a bunch of SILVER MELT Mercury dimes (VF to XF 1940's era P mint) and circulated XF 1970's era Kennedy's in 2nd tier slabs! Clearly not worth slabbing except for one "poor soul."
@Insider , I haven't seen a MAD Ike sell, but MADs usually don't get a large premium, because they are common (less so on Ikes, but still not an error worth much of a premium). Cents and dimes are extremely common, and will sell for a buck or less. Even quarters are common, and will sell for a couple/few bucks. If I were bidding on the Ike, I'd offer no more than about $5 above bid for the MAD - so I'd top out at $5-$10 on the coin.
Thanks, I thought dollar errors were very uncommon. IMO, most (non-variety) AU Ike's are spending money or gifts to kids. I would expect this coin to bid $1 + at the least $75 (?) for the uncommon error. I don't specialize in errors but looked in FW's (museum) case at the FUN show. His error Ike's (much more major than this) were priced accordingly. Anyway, I cannot recall ever seeing a MD Ike in the past just OC's. Perhaps I have not seen any because they are practically "worthless" as you wrote. In my ignorance, if I saw the coin under $50 in a case I would buy it (in my professed ignorance of its value) and feel that I could easily sell it for a profit. Yeah, yeah even if were only $5 profit Still waiting to be educated by an error dealer as to the wholesale/retail value this piece
I don't mind saying how much I pad for this one.. $80.00 It's just one of those things I just had to have and I'm happy with it
