I recently purchased two separate gold buffalo's. Both claimed to be unopened from the mint. One came in a brown box containing the wood box that holds the coin AND the other one was the same, except that brown box was inside a larger blue box. Why the difference in packaging? Anyone know?
I figured it out, thanks to some help from Chris. The one that came in the blue box was ordered as a gift. The other one wasn't. I looked up US Mint gift boxes and that's exactly what it came in. I removed the gold string thing.
Just got mine today....LOVELY coin....though the devices are NOT as dark/black as in the photo. I think I am learning that what you see on the Net is not necessarily how it looks under normal lighting at home.
