Is this 1914 Barber Quarter authentic?

I will open up saying I know nothing of these coins. I mainly collect gold. I was sent this coin to make up for some undisclosed damage on a gold coin I purchased. My concern is the surface looks very poor. I do not know if it is because it is a fake, or just poor condition. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like a corroded genuine coin. Weight?

I'm not well-versed on the Barber series, but this looks like a cast copy to me.

Looks cast to me as well, but that is pure speculation based on the pictures.

It's certainly suspect. The fields are grainy but the devices are clear. Odd that there's no "corrosion" on the date or lettering.

 

Yea, looks cast but even if it was real still not worth much.

 

I am not concerned about the value, as long as it is real. Any definite answers, or just hunches?

Good question. I just never have gotten one. I've gotten decent at spotting fakes, but a scale would be handy. I guess I never really trusted the accuracy of the small cheap scales.

 

Wouldn't a cast coin have a seam on the edge?

They used a 4 digit punch for the date then, the digits should be in line
