Twiggs, you certainly wouldn't want to drop the Coinzilla on your foot.Don't worry about reporting it for listing in Krause,as I've already reported it. Has anyone reported it for listing in Charlton? I have no idea of how it will be pictured in the catalogues. The mintage figure that has been reported is 10 pieces. Aidan.
here's a pic from the Mint http://www.mint.ca/royalcanadianmintpublic/index.aspx?requestedPath=/en-CA/Home/default.htm
Twiggs,it is the biggest bullion medal-coin in the entire British Commonwealth (if not,the world!).I wouldn't be too surprised if it has an an entry in the next edition of Guinness World Records. If you want one of these,it will cost you C$3,000,000,plus any federal & provincial taxes that may be imposed. Aidan.
maybe we can get a million members to the forum, pitch in a buck each and timeshare LMAO...me first! I've always wanted a Swiss bank account...LMAO
Sorry, I meant by anyone else, other than you, by the way, I reported this to Krause months ago, with a picture.
Dan,I don't think anyone will make a flip big enough to put the Coinzilla into.It weighs 100 kg.,&,besides,it is already in a holder anyway. Aidan.
I wonder if National Collectors' Mint will issue a replica?? They'll probably do one in proof using a golden dollar type alloy about the size of a Sac, and ask $100.00 for it, as if it were a world treasure, huh!?!
Makes sense, since they've already got orders for 5. I don't know if there is tax on top of the price tag. I thought precious metals weren't taxed here in Canada. I don't know for sure, since I've never bought any. Then again, they are calling it a coin, so maybe it is taxed. Okay, I'll shut up now.
Topher, if it's exported OUT of the country, there can't be a tax. Most of the coins that are sold that I know are exported overseas, in particular to the United States.
...and 50% over bullion value, and that's what counts. In a piece like this, face value is really all about marketing. It has no substantive meaning, just like $50 Buffaloes containing $650 worth of gold and selling for $800. It's all about the bullion. And in this case, it MIGHT be about the low mintage. Some folks might be gambling that will be a big deal to folks in the future. We'll see.
