A bronze antoninianus of Roman Emperor Claudius Gothicus (268-270). Not rare, and the edge is damaged. Easy to find a better one.

 

Any ideas on what I should pay

 

Slightly scarcer than usual couns of his due to the left facing bust though.

 

Something like 10 US$, I think.

 

However, Sol left with whip and bust left is not a common variety. I would buy it at the right price.

 

$10 seems low. I'd offer $20.

 

Fair enough. I see two left-headed Claudius II's on ebay, 45 US$, fixed price or best offer.

Than pay the dealer 5 usd. that is it.

 

I would try to low-ball, but I would be prepared to pay up to $20.

 

He told me he was not sure on a price yet. I will wait until next week. He also had some ancient silver coins. Today I got a 1937 canada silver dollar for 19 dollars. I will ask about the silver coins later.

That was kind of my thought. He has had this going approx. 2 weeks.

 

Don't want to offend, but why buy coins like that? A bit more may get you a coin to earn our ooh's and aah's.
