A more emotive subject, should we show our coins or hide them from view ?.

I will say what I think with the option to all other members to ‘shoot at me’.

I believe we should show for the knowledge and history of interested collectors, they belong to the world and our coinage dates history, the coin shows so much and should be freely available for other collectors and others to view and comment.

We are only the luck keepers in our life time and if we are lucky we can pass them to the next generation to look after them.

    Regards

    Jeff

I have read your post about 3 times now and I have no Idea what you are trying to say o_O

Jeff, your question is a bit nebulous o_O.

Do you mean, "we should open up our homes to strangers who wish to see our coins in person"?

Do you mean, "we should loan our coins to museums for public display"?

Do you mean, "we should post pictures of our coins online"?

I presume you didn't mean the latter since obviously your audience here on CoinTalk wants people to see their coins; that is why we post them here on a public forum. If you meant the first, well... :joyful::joyful::joyful: . If the second... museums tend to relegate coins to the basement, never to be seen.

    So, I'm confused.

I understand that Jeff calls on all coin owners to show their coins whenever they can, so generously for the sake of science, History and humanity. I might be wrong in reading his mind through what he typed. Hope I'm right..

I show my coins to anyone interested. I even try to show them to people who couldn't care less. We post our coins here on CT regularly, and sometimes too often. Not sure what else I can do.

Your original post made perfect sense. IMO from what I have seen in a very short time on CT: Lots of posters here are too smart for their own good and make simple things complicated.

Now I don't understand anything anymore. Indeed, simplicity makes beauty ( sometimes).

I think all of us are in agreement we would love to show our coins to as many as people as possible. The issue is finding a receptive audience and a practical way to do so. Places like CT seem like a nice compromise.

I would love to show my coins to more people.

However, the problem that my brother and I run into is that people don't believe they're real. It doesn't matter how much we tell them that, 'yes, these coins are genuine,' they don't want to hear us and go on to tell us about how we're wasting our money.:bored:

    It drives me insane.

Thanks for letting me vent. :p

Typical response. I run into it often. I no longer try to convince people who think they know it all.
