Yep,that's the scumbag.I've been in touch with Morganfred, who knows about this wanker & his scams. Aidan.
I finally got to see first hand a coin slabbed by SGS. I have tried to bid on one in ebay but for some reason I have been blocked. Anyway, was at a flea market in Virginia a few days ago and got to see my first one in person. Coin was a Kennedy half. Graded MS70. Really nice example I have to say. Might of been a 67 in reality if it wasn't for the fingerprint on the obverse and gouge across the reverse of the coin. granted I have only seen one now in person, but...... that certainly has left an impression on me.
That is the point that myself and others on here have said over and over again---(and as said here before---you will find it first on CoinTalk.org!!! ) There are no laws about selling overgraded coins...and there are no laws about starting a grading company...and there is no law that says you can grade every coin as MS or PF 70. And it is best if the Gov. says out of our Hobby. If you want to make a different spend time telling other collectors about these things that you think are scams..and bad deals...but it doesn't help just to talk about it and bring back old outdated threads Speedy
That's basically what I meant...but I'll add that SGS and others are not selling their opinion...(unless they really are in need of glasses, LOL) they are selling coins that they themselves grossly overgraded on purpose (in most cases) and slabbed.
More than one way to Skin a CAT! Here is our attempt to stop coin grading scams. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230134625873
Coin Scams: Is that your auction? Either way, thanks for alerting us to the lot. Excellent item! Thanks to whoever did the work for the 'consumer awareness program'!
Frank,Scumburger 'Grading' 'Services' needs to be closed down if eBay won't do anything.Do you agree with me on this? Aidan.
Heck, if I am still breathing then I HAVE to agree with you!!!! SGS is just a bunch of crooks, and overgraded coins. Also, they are bad for the environment, a waste of plastic that belongs in a landfill.
I love the idea. Have actually done it myself on both ebay and overstock. I posted this idea in the overstock forum and was basically told it was "against the rules" because I was falsly representing the coin in the title. Guess if I put it in a "seal a meal" pouch then make up my own grading service and put a grade on said pouch it's legit. Ebay and Overstock and so many others couldn't give a rat's A** as long as they collect their fees. They are every bit as responsible and know it. As for us other guys. We have to keep fighting the fight. What comes around goes around. Just takes some time.
Aidan, Can't honestly say I've even been there. Perhaps I should start off as a "scam " seller and channel funds into stopping the real scam artists.
Overstock Message Board Policies Went to Overstock to see if I could post a link to CT so people there might have a chance. Not real confident about it. Read on. "Posting in reference to, or reporting other users' violations, whether proven or not. Please use the appropriate reporting links to report violations. The report link for violations of the Message Board is located on the left hand side of each post, under the user name. The report link for auction related violations is on the right hand side of the auction listing, underneath the Seller Information box. The report link for user violations is located at the bottom of each user's home page. " Basically says to me that we KNOW Abon and SGS are garbage but keep it a secret. We're making money!
Dan,you'd better let the people behind Coinbay in on the secret, otherwise if you don't let them know, then you could end up getting NARU'd. Aidan.
