I actually sent this in back in the day. It was a nice pretty red. What a change. Crazy toning pattern. I named it Fugly IHC.
I won't argue with your assessment - but man do those feathers stand out to me - plus the rest of the central design on the obverse.
That is unfortunate. If it was red when you sent it in, I'm guessing teh holder toned the coin. The old PCI holders were known for that. Send it to NCS, they can hopefully remove the haze and stabilize the surfaces. You'll be left with a pink cent, but proper care and storage should return a patina in a few years.
