I attend 2 - 3 local shows a year (Raleigh area). It's my favorite way to shop for coins, and I feel like I consistently get more value for my money at shows versus online sources.
5-7 but I try and make my coin club meeting every month. They have a 120 lot auction. some are great buys.
I think I was somewhere around 20 shows last year! Coin shows are entirely too much fun. Sent from my iPad Numismatist, Alhambra Coin Center www.lifeatthecoinshop.com www.facebook.com/lifeatthecoinshop
Two or three a year. This weekend for example I'll be in Duisburg (NW, DE) for a smaller show. The other extreme is the World Money Fair in Berlin (biggest one in the world, I think) but I don't "have" to be there every year. Guess that - not being a dealer but a collector - I could do without the shows. But it's nice to meet people once in a while that I otherwise know from forum nicks and posts only ... Christian
Three. All three of the BIG Baltimore Whitman shows. Small shows rarely do me any good since my wantlist is rather specialized. And even the big shows don't always help. I've come home empty-handed from 2 of the last 3 Whitman shows.
Nine or ten. Mainly just local shows, the only major ones are the Chicago International, EAC when it is close by and lately the Chicago ANA show (won't make that one this year.) Would go to the Central States Show but it is just two weeks after the Chicago International. each year.
Please make a note Conder. I haven't been to CICF in a while, but would love to meet you at one or Chicago ANA show someday. You are one of the most well respected numismatists here, and I would lover to "chat coins" for a while.
Three or four. My last was the ANA Atlanta show. I went to see the Saddle Ridge coins plus look around. I'm hoping to go to the Orlando FUN show this coming January. I would rather buy from a show than the internet. In hand vs crappy photos....NO CONTEST !!! That's how we did it in the old days.....
Shoot Phil, I've been holed up in the small town of Sidney for these past few weeks doing upgrades on the summer place and I can say nothing much goes on around these parts...........but there is a coin shop in Oneonta........
I do attend the Melville show on LI when I get the chance. Twice a month it occurs but I barely make five or six for the year. FUN is a major passion. Have attended recently and plan to do so again in the future. Summer FUN will be a no go.......
I go to between 1 and 2 coin shows a year. They are just the major ones that I see and that dont cost me money/airfare/hotels
Berlin WMF and summer ANA. Seems like mostly reruns at the smaller shows, but im stacking and modern precious metal art coins not numismatic, so that works for me
