Indian Head Cent - Gold?

    I have seen gold plated IHCs in jewelry bezels, they affect the rim as well.

    Hi Prospector. I ran into this post when I was researching my own 1896 gold looking IHC. Doesn't look Like any others I have ever seen. Mine also has some spotting. None of the coin sites even mention any other than BN. Did you ever find anything out about yours?

    I don't know if you will get an answer, you're posting to a four year old thread.

    Or you might, prospector is still active here, he last posted about a month ago.

    Well, as long as we're hanging out in an old thread...

    I suppose it's possible that these people could have spent millions researching, developing and marketing composition-analysis tools, but it never occurred to them that an item could be merely gold-plated.

    Surprisingly enough, though, they did think of that.
