Hi Prospector. I ran into this post when I was researching my own 1896 gold looking IHC. Doesn't look Like any others I have ever seen. Mine also has some spotting. None of the coin sites even mention any other than BN. Did you ever find anything out about yours?

Well, as long as we're hanging out in an old thread... I suppose it's possible that these people could have spent millions researching, developing and marketing composition-analysis tools, but it never occurred to them that an item could be merely gold-plated.
