I'm not sure it's a clash Sheila as I think Lincolns nose would of hit the other side of the die . Meaning the right side of the Memorial , I'm taking yours is more on the left side of the coin .
Yes. I wondered about that too. You can see it in the picture in the reverse side even without the up close picture.
I don't think it would be. It would show upside down if it were a clash. See this overlay and see where the nose clash would truly occur. And use it for future reference!
Some reference websites I want to share with you - http://www.error-ref.com/die_clash/ and http://www.maddieclashes.com/
And on the obverse, there appears to be a finger pointing at Abe's nose. A column from the memorial also slightly rotated.
yes it is a clash, FYI, clashes are created by the FIELDS of the opposite die, yours was created by the field area between his neck and collar...
Paddy, are you sure that both of your Lincoln Memorial Cent overlays are correct? Why does Lincoln face the right side of the Memorial in one image and the left side of the Memorial in the other image? Am I getting daft in my old age? Chris
your coin looks to have an event at the top of the 8th and 9th bays as well, its a clash of the field area just below Lincolns beard....
How do you figure that? The "Y" of LIBERTY would be inverted between the 2nd & 3rd columns from the left. (I have more than 200 of the "Y" clash from a 1980 Mint bag.) The neck & collar area should be to the right of the "Y" clash. Chris

If you rotated the left-hand image 180 degrees, so that the Memorial is upright, the designer's initials would be on the left side of the Memorial. ONE CENT, E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA should begin from the left end of the Memorial, not the right end. Chris
Am I just hallucinating? The "neck & collar" area you claim to be clashed begins on a diagonal in the 2nd bay and ends in the 4th bay. Chris
ok, the 1st (left) overlay is of the obverse of the coin showing where the clash from reverse die would be, the 2nd (right) overlay is the reverse of the coin showing where the clash of the obverse die would be,,,http://www.maddieclashes.com/one-cent-overlays/
actually it usually starts at top of second or third bay and ends at bottom of 4th bay, depending on how much out of adjustment the dies are from clashing..
