I'm just about to mail in my YN application, but I didn't see a section in which you filled in the classes you would like to take if you got the scholarship. I'm fairly certain there is no such section, but just in case, to anyone who has done this before, am I missing something?
I checked, there's no section for stating what class you want to take, just the week. What class do you plan on taking?
You have to fill out out on the Summer Seminar forum and send both in. If you get a scholarship they will use that form to pick your class.
I went 3-4 years ago. Grading I and Grading II (yep, two weeks). Nope, no scholarship; they don't consider a 70yo a YN. And I wouldn't do 2 weeks again. The altitude gave me fits. I could either walk or talk, but not both at the same time.
Aidan, I'm going Session II, and I hope to take Early American Coppers, because I love early coppers, and I know Doug Bird, who's a great guy.
You can pick the class you want. If you want a real walk on the wild side to see things in a different way try the course taught by Eric Goldstein and JK aka John Kraljevich. They will introduce you to a world you never knew existed. I have taken their course and have taught at Summer Seminar. I have known John as a YN of 13 years old. Eric is a curator at Historic Williamsburg. The two of them are tough to beat. Doug Bird is also a great man to take a course from. I have known him for many years. Either course is well worth your time. Enjoy the fun surrounded by the nerdiest numismatists on the planet.
