The most beautiful quarter I've ever come across

1996 D quarter, and I don't think I've ever seen one that looks this good. Is this some sort of special minting process?

Can you give us better close-ups? There looks like a few small nicks or dings on the obverse. I can't tell about the reverse because the angle is causing a glare on part of it. You need to take the photos from directly overhead with the lighting at about 45 degrees.

There's definitely nicks on the front, here are the best pictures I can get with an iPhone and holding a light source.

For a second I was thinking it might be from a satin mint set but I don't believe they made those for 1996. Probably just a regular circulation quarter that is well struck and got released from a mint roll recently.

Thanks. I still have approximately 35,946 2x2's, so I'm gonna snatch it up either way.

I don't think your coin is a special minting, just an EDS coin. I had an MS68 Statehood Quarter that had a very similar appearance.

Given the small ticks on the obverse of your coin, the grade would be limited to MS66, but it is still a very nice premium gem coin and a great album coin.

Nice circulation find. Definitely a keeper.

    Hi, Paul!

If you don't mind my being nosy, how much did you get for that DE SQ?

IIRC, I sold it for $200
