I’m speaking specifically to the area to the NW of “IN GOD WE TRUST” behind Liberty. I’m thinking it’s not, but it has a weird look… like when you spot polish a silver pitcher and it retarnishes.
I purchased this coin from the same seller, and it also looks cleaned. Edit: between the R & T of LIBERTY. I can’t decide if they are cleaning lines or planchet polishing lines.
I really don't see anything that says cleaning. It is also impossible to see it thru the plastic on the flip. Those are polishing lines on the die, so as struck.
What's going on with the rim there between 2:00 and 4:00 or so? Looks kind of like a beaten-down fin...
I don’t know what happened with the rim. There doesn’t seem to be any issue with the edge. There are two long stretches that would make this unable to receive a grade (I think), but there’s a bunch of scratching going on other than those die scratches.
As mentioned, hard to tell from these photos. Back when (years ago), it was acceptable for collectors to clean their coins, so many have older cleanings that have toned since then. Not saying that's what you have, just putting it out there.
I grasp that. This was so much easier with my Samsung. I took photos with my Nikon, but now realize my laptop has no sd port.
Just curious, for the second half of the comment, is that due to specific wear on the coin or generally softness (San Fran coins, in general, but especially for this year, were struck weakly).
I tried to show the edge, as I really have no idea. Edit: Looked into it a bit more. Could it be a cud?
