How in the world does this guy have all of these double edge lettering Adams Dollars? Are they fake, or did he luck out with these errors as I did in Jacksonville with the Godless dollars? http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZyoungauctioneerQQhtZ-1
The auctions state that these are the results of many thousands of dollars of coin searching....I searched $5000 and have yet to find anything interesting.....
What the heck! This guy has over 10 up as well! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjfiggyQQhtZ-1 I guess the mint REALLY wanted to make sure the edge lettering was on there...lol
im thinking the same as you. I cannot believe all the double strike edgeing on the Adams dollar. Something just doesnt seem right. How can it be that this mnay coin have the double edging?? i can understand a few popping up.. but it just seems that there are too many so soon!!!
On the GW dollar, there were hoppers that bypassed the edge letering room.. maybe on this dollar there was a bin or 2 that made it back to the edge lettering room .... IF that is what is happeneing, then i would expect the edge lettering doubling numbers to possibly be as high as the GW without edge lettering.... my head hurts
maybe there trying to make up for the gw's they missed so there gonna whack 50,000 of the new ones twice:headbang:
arent there 150,000 coins there abouts in on of them mint hoppers that carry the coins around? if so, it could be tripple that 50,000 estimate
Pretty easy actually. I have over 50 of them. They are being found in this area just like the Godless were in FL. I too am in Michigan.
Aiden, I have contacted Coinworld about them, I was the first to list them out there. ( i have to be careful here dont want to break CT rules) Coinworld said that they had seen them and did a write up about them from the Washington Series. These are tough, I have been through probably 15k worth in the last 4-5 days. Cant find anymore at any of the banks around here anymore so I think they are drying up. The people out there that have them are all people that I know. (except the one in FL) Who would I contact at Krause or would they really care? I dont know if Coinworld is even going to make mention of them. They are tougher to find than the Godless from what I am seeing so far. Hard to tell. I guess this is a wait and see.
140 degree rotation too There is (was, I nabbed it) also a 140 degree rotated die Adams on epay. I thought the dies were KEYED so this did not happen!? Or are they only keyed such that a double-heads or double-tails is impossible? Yeah, I paid over 300 for it. Someone's gotta make sure you searchers are taken care of ;P Oh, seems to me a master machinist could create double-edge strike coins. Secret service probably bought ONE. baaad juju.. I doubt anyone would attempt it. Conspiracy theorists might say the mint passes these through twice themselves to keep the collector interest up.
The next thing you know they will be selling the missing denver mint mark error from the pres dollar Bruce.
