There is small article, based on a member's letter, in the latest edition of TAMs. It's about a small area in Wisconsin (Windor, Wisconsin according to wiki) named Token Creek. The Indians back in day used to leave a token at the creek before crossing it so the settlers named the area Token Creek. This is the Token Creek Tavern way back when, according to goggle. Now wouldn't it be cool if they issued Token Creek Tavern tokens?
So there are three different reverses used with the young head Victoria (William Wyon inspired) obverse of the 1879 fantasy crown. The other two reverses besides the Three Graces one that I have already posted are: 1) Shield reverse (X#-82), mintage 800 pieces 2) St. George and Dragon reverse (X#-83), mintage 800 pieces The St. George and Dragon reverse is based on yet another William Wyon design which was originally used as the reverse for a Prince Albert medal.
I've always been curious about these. My grandfather collected a half dozen or so - most likely in the 20's. He was in Philadelphia at the time.
Love the St. George / Dragon design, brg. Wyon was quite an accomplished artist. Very, very nice. Bruce
