Is there anywhere I can go on the Internet and pick up a G8 wheatie for .35, a F12 Jefferson for .50 and maybe an AG3 merc for $1.10, finalize my order and then only pay maybe $1 or $1.50 shipping?

You can sorta do that on Yahoo auctions -but they'll be gone soon. Every Internet place I know slaps a minimum of $4 or $6 shipping on any order. And in addition, they usually don't carry G or VG or F common coins - just MS-xx eye candy.

For example, today I was sitting around, being bored. I would have loved to surf somewhere and pick up a couple of "hole fillers" without putting a hole in my pocket.

I know a simple answer is to go to your dealer or go to a coin show, but the storefront dealers I know about don't carry common wheaties, jeffersons, etc. And coin shows only happen a couple times during the summer here and with the price of gas, I'm not about to drive 100 miles......

    stear clear of coinbay :(

there are places around offering what you are looking for, but usually in bulk. It usually doenst make sens to offer common coins in such a low grade, as it takes to much time to list it, and then sells for so little. I agree, coin shows dont 'usually' carry such common dates, and if they do, it would probably be in bulk. Most people want what you called 'eye candy'. its just the way the market is these days.

    good luck.

you're not going to find a lot of that, best to find a couple local shops, and rotate through them

Well, I checked out Coinbay and don't like it for the following:

    a. You can't sort by auction ending (or starting) time. So the top item may be ending in 3 weeks.
    b. There is no column for shipping costs - you have to go into the description to find that and let's face it - that kills 90% of these auctions.
    c. So I chose US Coins, then chose "Rolls". From within rolls, I wanted to search only for "Roosevelt" rolls. Well, if you do a "quick" search, it searches ALL of Coinbay and you get Roosevelts from everywhere. The only way is to do is is with an advanced search - which pops up a window and you have to fill a bunch of stuff in
    d. It seems to have a strange facination with which state the item is located in (like Iowa or Nebraska). You can sort by THAT, but you can't sort by time - too funny.
    e. There ain't much on there.

I have checked out a place called www.bidville.com. They have more stuff up for auction and don't have the problems listed above.

But those are the only two alternatives I have checked out.

Here's another one; www.bidorbuy.co.za .The prices are in Rand,as it is a South African auction website that allows international traders.

Er - international shipping will cost more than the coins themselves.
