I bought a 2013 ATB proof set on ebay without the Original packaging or COA for $8.25. When I got the set the case was loose and it looked like it had been opened. In fact I was able to take it apart myself without having to break it open(something I cannot do to my other sets). Other than that the coins are in really good shape. The seller is offering refunds within 30 days but I have to pay for shipping.

What do you think? Should I return it or should I not worry about whether or not the case is in original condition? Would it hurt the value and would it cause oxidation/toning?

Figure $3+ to ship. Are the loose coins worth $6 to you?

Most mint packages are pretty easy to open. They don't sonically seal them like TPG slabs.

The loose jangle might bother me since i'm somewhat OCD. But I guess the thing that bothers me the most is the possible toning. But Modern none silver proof sets will probably never be worth much in the future. So if I have to buy a replacement in 20+ years it probably wouldn't be a big deal. Heck, I saw a 1985 proofset(the year of my birth) for just $5.

Yeah, im probably just being paranoid like usual.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.
