Wow must be my week for finding nice 50+ year old coins in circulation got this one from gas station today. I see some of them go for 300 plus in ms66 condition but mine fall short of that grade im sure :( I wish I could catch the luster on this coin with my usb scope it's brilliant 57jeff1.jpg 57jeff2.jpg 57jeff3.jpg

May not be MS66, BUT I would not mind it.

I get alot of my pocket change from my oldest.
He is a truck driver so my pool of coins is pretty large.
    But not that one yet.
Soon I hope I will have one.

    Nice fine Eric!!!!

Can you educate me. What makes it special? Is it something with the full step?

'57-D is a very unusual date to find so nice. There were only a few million set aside and most have been gone for many years. Usually you see the very high mintage years from '59 on.

Of course it's not unusual to see any of the pre-'56 dates in XF or AU because lots of them have sat out of circulation for a long time. The '55 to '58 seem to always be pretty worn just like the '65 to '85 dates.

Try finding a '71 in high grade!

I agree. And that crusty old boy has some very nice detail left in the building, too. And that die was for the most part shot. That's a good find.
