2001 JFK not Doubled die but?

This isnt a doubled die but anyone have a clue about this? there is rolling damage but the rest is new to me.

on the ear and reverse west branch on reverse?

 

Some kind of tool damage?

It all looks like PMD to me.

Here's an interesting strikethrough that came out of a Mint bag. I'm not sure if it was a piece of wire, cord or something similar that caused it.

If it's indented into the coin then you are looking as PMD almost all of the time.

 

Beat-up circulation damaged piece.You can see the marks from a rolling machine too!

 

Is this is response to the OP, Chris, or....? If the former, yes... I don't see anything other than what has already been explained to him, but if to Chris, and just for the sake of clarity, his example would be one of the exceptions to the/your "almost all of the time" rule.
