Is electrolysis an "other process?" Please tell us. Is a toned coin found in circulation "not consistent with traditional coin storage methods?" Inquiring minds wish to know. You perceive my question as irate, because, hanging the definition on methodology, you're obviously not inquiring enough.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Is electrolysis a generally accepted numismatic storage method? No. A coin which has been toned by the use of electrical current is clearly AT by my definition.

A coin found in circulation will generally have a certain appearance. If the coin deviates from that, I would question the origin of the toning.

Your objections don't even begin to test my proposed definition of artificial toning.

If possible could you please post some photos of naturally toned Franklins?

Take a look at Skyman's registry set, he does an excellent job in providing information about the availability of toners for each date/mm was well as photographing each coin from his own collection.

Please notice that his 1958-P is toned in a similar shade of turquoise to that of the OP's. However, there are some key differences between his aqua toner and the OP's. First, Skyman's is a 1958 which come from the mint sets housed in cardboard holders that produced many incredible toners including some with this aquamarine coloration. Second, Skyman's 1958 is toned over all surfaces of the coin compared to the OP's coin which is toned at the peripheries and untoned at the center which is indicative of album target toning. Also, the OP's coins were minted in 1959 & 1963 when mint sets came in cellophane packaging that was not conducive to toning.

I know you did not ask for all this other information, but I'm simply answering what I know will be a question when others see Skyman's 1958.
