coin identification

Hey, I went metal detecting in St Thomas vi and found a coin. If I could get some help identifying this coin I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help

Looks modern from the rims and not really a "coin" as it doesn't seem to name a denomination, nation, ruler, state, etc. Maybe intentionally meant to recall classic designs with that cross, if not even a religious token of some sort.

 

You're probably right! I just figured it would be better anywhere than here.

Don't bother. It's junk. That's what forums are for. Maybe someone down there planted it for unsuspecting metal detectorists thinking they found some pirate booty.

 

I believe it is a modern token made from brass or copper.

 

That's cool. I was only there for a couple of days for work. New to detecting and needed practice. Found a bunch of quarters, pennies, and this piece. Heading to myrtle beach next. Thanks for the feed back
