if anyone didn't notice I've had a day off today so I got a chance to head out to the local coin shop and picked up this most beautiful Eisenhowser Proof, 1978 S. This is just the most beuatiful Eisenhowser I've ever held, just stunning.

Nice pickup! I don't know much about Eisenhower dollars, but it looks beautiful!

Fine deal for such a deep mirror, tell us how far away you can read a biusness card with it. I have one where it is 7 in!

On the reverse at LEAST that, maybe even 9 inches or more. In fact, those reflections in the 2nd and 3rd images of the obverse are at least 8 FEET away from camera.

Ruben,is that Proof Eisenhower $1 a silver one,or is it a clad one? The details on that coin are very strong, but not as strong as Fort Knox though!

I think you did fine. The 1978s is probably the best struck, most cameoed of all of the proof Ikes. Nice pickup!...Mike

That is one beautiful coin. If that coin were mine I would have it graded...It is that pretty.
One seldom sees a really nice silver one dollar coin like yours.
You certainly were living right that day finding that coin for so liitle...

I'm thinking about it. I might want to have a few coins graded including a Franklin or two, that Eisenhower, and perhaps the Mercury, Morgan and Peace Dollar.

    I'll send them to Zane.

1978-S proof Ikes only come as clad proofs. The last year for silver proofs in 1976.

    It can't - but copper/nickel alloy can be :D

The outside is copper nickel? Really, I though that alloy would never be silver, but always orange in tone.

Ruben all of our clad coinage is a copper nickel alloy - always has been.
