i would like opinions on my 1943 d penny, is it real or fake. i have had it a very long time, and need to know if i can pay off a few bills i have collected. ha ha thank you for all info given.
Looks like a standard 1943 steel wheat penny. They were struck in steel due to the shortage of copper during WWII. Worth about 10-50 cents
Common date wheat cents used to sell by the bag of 5000, ($50) for $75. Now they are around $200 for a bag of 5000. But a handful is not worth much.
Hey it looks like you've got the start to a collection...go buy a wheat cent folder at the local hobby lobby or other hobby shop and put those in the appropriate holes. May as well have something to keep your mind off the bills LOL.
buy a red book at your book store to see what the values are. looks like you are starting a wheat cent collection ? have fun with it.
I was particularly impressed with your 1943D. These steel pennies (I like that old term) did not hold up well in time. Despite heavy wear on high parts, the basic image looks fine. Worth holding for its history.
Most coin dealers will pay .02 each for bulk wheat cents. Look up key dates and save those, or ask a higher price when selling. Good luck.
if you are gonna start coin roll hunting. look out for key dates and doubled dies...1909, 1909-S VDB, 1914-D, 1922, 1931-S, 1943 steelies, 1955 DDO lol, 1983 DDR, 1984 doubled ear variety, 1995 DDO
